About a month ago I started a forum that featured original characters and their back stories, I then wrote an article about originality in characters and stories, which you may read by clicking the link above. The previous article talked about being “original” and how that quest to be utterly original might actually be weakening stories.

But here I would like to showcase those works that helped me formulate my views on originality. they are all from that forum, which got more than 300 posts (not counting any subsequent replies) and more than 800 character thumbs. I was very excited and I would like to show what I feel were the most interesting of all of them (that includes drawing skill and the actual story)

First off, I would like to start with OgawaBurukku

  ARMA -- she is the main character of FALLEN. Arma has no memories of her life up to the present and doesn't even know her name. She is so desperate for an identity that she takes up the position of Guardian-- a group of young female amnesiacs who are told they were born to protect a goddess with supernatural abilities. Arma is the leader and has immense strength and is skilled with weapons. She is torn between the idea of building a new life or searching for her old one. Arma is tall, muscular, dark-skinned, and in fact resembles a man more than a female in both personality and physique (though she assures everyone there's nothing "down there"). She is constantly fighting with Lamia and has strange recurring dreams.

  MARIS -- she is the Guardian of Water. Maris is friendly, outgoing, and the perfect "big sister". She tries to play neutral when there are fights but is unusually stubborn when she's set her mind to something. She is not concerned with any past life she may have had-- she is more concerned with living in the now and eagerly takes up a job waitressing to earn money for a chance to possibly attend college. She also believes the goddess has everyone's best interest at heart, which later pits her against Lamia, the goddess of illusion. Maris is sporty but very fashion conscious and can often be seen in a yoga pose while reading a copy of Vogue.

  LAMIA -- also from FALLEN, she is the Guardian of Illusion, but has found her abilities to be psychic rather than light-bending, which gives her a bit more ability than her title lets on to. She's self-centered and overly-confident, and constantly bickering with Arma, who physically is her polar opposite. At first she seemed indifferent about their missions as Guardians, but one day Arma plays a tune on the piano that Lamia seems to know-- her first and only restored memory of her past! She then makes finding out about her past and her connection to Arma her top priority.

Isamu Lucero

he's a dhampire[sic] half (vampire half human) age 20 studying in the Academy . he is shown as normal student in world full of dhampires and humans living together but in fact he's a boss for a gang that does whatever they get payed for

the story is about a rumor in the city that all the bad people disappear and there's a day when Isamu and his gang disappear and go to a place called the Crimson Curse ....

This is Fern
The Ellwood couple couldn't have children of their own, because Mrs. Ellwood was sterile. So they grew old wanting a child. One day Mrs. Ellwood was doing some gardening, when she found a fern plant in the middle of the garden, the plant was shaking and some gurgling came from it, so she called her husband and they found a little baby inside the fern plant. This boy was naked and had one of his arms missing but replaced with something that seemed a lot like a big fern sprout.
The couple adopted him and named him Fern.
He grew knowing them as mom and dad, he had no hair, but leaves instead of them, and the fern sprout became more like a branch when he grew old.
Now he's 17 years old, he's vegan and very respectful of the earth, he changed his parents to vegans too. And he just discovered he can control plants in some wicked ways.

I’m basically posting verbatim what asieybarbie wrote about these two…

Deziree...(Dez-er-ray)
"she has some SERIOUS attitude! somewhat short-tempered, and she barely smiles (except a few devilish smirks here and there), though she's far from being mean if that's what you're thinkin'. very strong-willed, and intelligent. she likes to wear a lot of darker toned colors. even in her lipstick! (she ALWAYS has to have some lipstick on). her hair can be anywhere from a dark steel gray to jet black, and only sometimes she'll have a random color highlight in her long gorgeous hair somewhere. speaking of hair, she prefers either bone straight, up-dos, or loose curls (like you see here). she wears a lot of professional clothing, maybe hot business suits that fits her figure...whoohaaa! well...pretty much anything she wears has to hug her curves and be sexy (but classy! she's VERY classy!)...lol. she's slim and somewhere around 5'7"-ish...and she has that "deadly but luscious" look to her. andddd ahh, she's really supposed to have a little piercing below her bottom lip and even one on her left eyebrow...but recently she hasn't really worn them...<_< it's optional! she's mostly reserved, calm, and enjoys reading. oh and coffee too! she's also really good friends with Toree, but sometimes Toree's playful manner can get to be an annoyance to Dez.....although she knows she can't stay irritated with her for long since she really truly cares for that silly girl of course. Toree somehow always manages to creep a little smirky-smile on Dez's face when they're together "

"Toree loves to live life to the fullest! she loves to smile, and has a playful-sexy personality. she enjoys to party, but is definately not party-crazy. ohhh, and she looooves red lipstick....you'll BARELY find her with any other color. can't leave the house without it on! she has a cute little beauty mark under her left eye. ah! she loves anything retro, colorful, or vintage, and a lot of her style stems from the collection of pinups that she has at home. LOL. her hair mostly stays in the same style, with one side slightly longer than the other, and curly-wavy. she's seems to be around the same height as Dez...ehhh, well....maybe a tad bit shorter. she tends to wear cute higher heels so she can size up to her friend's height. Toree really envies and loves Deziree dearly, and appreciates just how much Dez likes her just the way she is! but of course Toree, with her upbeat-outgoing personality, loves to mess with Dez, encouraging her to "lighten up" 'cause she seems so serious all the time!...heh heh. and she knows only sometimes she can get on Dez's nerves (but ONLY temporarily, out of being short-tempered)...but in the end...they know they can't do much without each other since their relationship is so tight!"

What I do know is that in this tale, ‘geisha’ is an organization of women, to what purpose is unknown to me.

Here is some of the beautiful art.
Nashiko- a member of the organization known as "Geisha". Nashiko is a rarity within the group as she is a westerner. She is a very charming and happy women despite being mocked as a gaijin, she is never seen without her book which is her most treasured possession (from which she is able to summon anything with in its pages) she also wields the sakura blade
Yammi- very stoic and pensive with a hint of sarcasm very little is known about this young women but rumor has it she was a proficient assassin, she fights with her iron claws which are attached to fine wires allowing for wider reach, she also carries a mystical mask which when placed on any organic matter brings forth a sentient being made of the same properties
Isamu- the youngest and newest member of Geisha, she is very brave a willing to put her life on the line but she is also somewhat hot headed and tends to act with out thinking, she wields and boomerang which doubles as a handy blade, with her is her childhood friend Haku, a tanuku which has the ability to change into anyone or anything and copy them exactly
Akahanna- the most jolliest of the members, she grew up on the streets and even worked as a prostitute but despite this she remains and confident and upbeat individual, she is a expert at drunken fist and is also able to manipulate her pipe smoke into anything imaginable

  and I wasn’t given any details about this one, she’s just soo pretty

A Brazilian artist, her work has a nice blend of styles that I appreciated

She has, as karma, the fate of fighting with the one she loves, another Immortal, because he is mad, and wants to kill the one she has to protect for the sake of the world.

these are Andreas and Lee the red hair one. they are best friends can talk about many things. They go to school together. Andreas lost his family when he was 10 Lee saved him in a fight on the streets. However Lee has a split personality that he also shares with his twin brother Sirgero, but other than immediate family no else knows they are twins.

this is Sigero and Lilina...due to fighting constantly with his twin brother Lee, his father sent him away. Then he met her, and was eventually wounded in a fight to protect her. Sirgero is based off :devniacherryblossem: ‘s personality which has a alternate side.

They’re about The Girl with No Name . she's a mercenary/assassin in a post apocalyptic future. She’s an antihero. Not the bad guy but not exactly a good guy either. the makeup is tattooed to forever hide her features. The scars are from child slavery. And the chest scar and stitches are from a heart procedure casing it in titanium.

:thumb122821559: this is Vaya (named after the Hindu wind god Vayu). She lives in a small secluded village far beyond the reaches of civilization. She's a shaman's apprentice, born with a special affinity for birds, able to communicate with them and decipher omens from their migration patterns and songs. She's a bit of a rebel and the overall story centers on her leaving her small village and her discovery of the world at large.
